  • ACG DIP Instructor Certification

    DIP Program

    AAA Driver Improvement Program teaches drivers how to prepare the vehicle for optimum visibility, compensate for environmental factors, drive defensively and react to potentially dangerous traffic situations. This course is used by the U.S. Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Marine Corps to prevent traffic fatalities worldwide. Many insurance underwriters, police, public utilities and delivery fleets require drivers to complete this course. This course is approved in 35 states for traffic violators seeking point reduction. Insurance providers may also discount premiums for drivers who successfully complete this course. It can be presented over 4 hours, 6 hours or 8 hours.

    DIP Instructor Certification Workshop

    Satisfactory completion of this workshop certifies participants to teach the AAA Driver Improvement Program (DIP) to volunteers, traffic violators, and the AAA RoadWise Driver Program to mature operators. Materials covered include background information on the development of the program, updated information concerning driver knowledge requirements and visual/perceptual processes. In addition, participants are provided techniques to improve communication skills, and suggestions on how to conduct lessons from the AAA Driver Improvement Program. Certification is valid for three years.

  • ACG DIP Instructor Re-Certification

    DIP Instructor Recertification Workshop

    Every three years, certified instructors must complete a one-day, eight-hour recertification course prior to the expiration date of the current certificate in order to continue instruction of AAA Driver Improvement Program courses.

    Instructors must conduct the course at least two times per year in such a manner as to meet requirements regarding course content with a class size not to exceed 30 persons or the maximum number designated by state regulations.
